Research Focus
The Initiative for Social Work and Forced Migration seeks to lead and coordinate research, education, and training in the multifaceted field of forced migration. This includes topics related to forced migration due to human-made disasters (e.g., war and conflict), natural disasters, or climate change, with or without recognized legal documents by the receiving country. The initiative also covers areas such as resettlement, immigration policy (e.g., border control and integration policies), human trafficking, internal displacement, and statelessness.

- Conducting systematic literature reviews
- Ensuring research ethics in studies involving human participants
- Qualitative data collection and cleaning
- Reflexive thematic analysis (training provided as needed)
Research Conditions
Students will be physically based in the Center for the Environment intern co-working space. Work and team meetings will be conducted remotely via Zoom once a week. Depending on the project, there may be opportunities for fieldwork.
Team Structure and Opportunities
Students will meet weekly with Dr. Naseh and will be paired with a PhD student for additional mentorship. Information about the structure of the research team is available on the Initiative on Social Work & Forced Migration Website. Opportunities for independent research exist.
