Please join the Center for the Environment and the Office of Public Scholarship for a workshop on why and how to write about your environmental research for the general public.
This workshop is designed to help WashU faculty, postdocs, and research staff become familiar with the pitching, drafting, and editing processes involved in writing for high-impact public venues like The Conversation, which publishes news analysis and commentary by university faculty and researchers under a Creative Commons license. This Creative Commons license allows pieces from the Conversation to be republished by local and national publications across the U.S. and worldwide.
By the end of this workshop, participants will have identified a suitable topic from their research to write about and started drafting a pitch for The Conversation. The Office of Public Scholarship will be available after the workshop to support scholars with follow-up pitch and story development.
This workshop is open to WashU faculty and research staff.
Lunch will be provided.
