Please join for Maria M. Jaramillo’s lecture, Contested Ground: Designing at the Epistemic Edge of Bogota, on October 9th, 11:30 – 1, in Weil Hall’s Kuehner Court. Maria is the former Secretary of Planning for Bogota, Colombia and Founder of LACPLAN, an organization dedicated to emancipated, regenerative, and peaceful futures across Latin America and the Caribbean. As secretary under the city’s first female Mayor, she developed urban design and planning strategies based on the “care block” to create a larger “care system”, an idea intended to close gender gaps as well as address climate, mobility, and access by centering the needs of caregivers and care work.
Maria’s lecture kicks off the Informal Cities workshop which will occur from October 9th – 11th. You’re also invited to join for the review of final work on the afternoon of the 11th (3:00) in Steinberg gallery.
