DESCRIPTION:\nTyson Research Center\, Center for Humanities\n\n\n\nRegistration is closed.\n\n\n\nExplore the complex history of the land on which Tyson Research Center sits\, and the humans who have made use of its terrain and ecological features over thousands of years. \n\n\n\nJoin this roundtable discussion featuring a team of researchers\, including archivists\, historians\, and undergraduate students\, studying the history of this site through Indigenous presence\, extractive practices\, and military occupation. \n\n\n\nThe presenters include:\n\n\n\n\nSusan Flowers\, Tyson Research Center\, Education-Outreach-Inclusivity Coordinator\n\n\n\nMeredith Kelling\, Center for the Humanities\, Asst. Director\, Student Research and Engagement\n\n\n\nKelly Schmidt\, AFAS\, Reparative Public Historian and Lecturer\; Special Collections Management Research Associate\; Associate Director\, WashU & Slavery Project\n\n\n\nTullaia Powell\, former Tyson Undergraduate Fellow and current IGNITE Grant Research Fellow\n\n\n\n\nDiscussion will reveal how the Tyson’s history expands understanding of the interrelation between landscape and human in the St. Louis region\, as well as explore why field stations need rigorous\, historical understanding of their sites. \n\n\n\nThis event is open to the entire WashU community and the public. \n\n\n\nRegistration is closed.\n\n\n\n\n
